Gorka: If you open your xls (testdoc) in Excel you don't get columns starting
with J. I think this is the limit of the old Excel 97 format, that it only
supports 256 columns. So your test document isn't displayed correctly with
Excel, too!

So I've converted it in Excel 2010 to xslx which supports 16384 columns
(testdoc2). This is then correctly imported to Libreoffice.

So this is some kind of mis-understanding. Libreoffice supports more than 256
columns. If you export such a document into Excel 97 format columns greater
than 256 will go lost.

Yes it's unexpected, especially that columns go lost. But it's a limitation of
the Excel 97 format.


Markus,Kohei: Should there be a warning about that those columns will go lost?
