Let's focus on this.
Isn't the default (i.e. not picking a template) already the "light template"?
But I know what you mean about a simple dark template. The closest we have
currently is the Porfolio template.
What do you think, Design/UX team? Would a pair of stripped down "Simple light"
and "Simple dark" templates make sense, with a smart choice of background
colour that's not plain white or plain black?

Please open a separate report if needed, but note that there is "File >
Templates > Save as template" which does not use the default filesave dialog.
