FWIW, on ubuntu-natty, I installed some packages; I think the relevant ones are sqlite3 and libsqliteodbc. LibreOffice, both Ubuntu package 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu2 and local build of commit id 0e1de41, is happy to work with an ODBC connection.
