Hello all,

today I stumbled over this Writer bug report:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53898

"Completely Broken - basic formatting of a text document is random"

The reporter writes about LibreOffice 3.5.4 for Linux:

> Quite often, when we pressed "enter" on the end of a paragraph,
> LibreOffice re-format thd document randomly. It split pages in
> the middle, indented paragraphs, etc.

As you can imagine, he draws a rather radical conclusion ;-(:

> This is without doubt, the worst office package i've ever used -
> even worst than Open Office 1.0. These problems are so fundamental,
> and so obvious, this product should have never been released
> (and YES, I am a developer myself).

Even if we ignore all of the reporter's (IMHO completely understandable) anger, this bug report is disquieting.

My question to all: has anybody ever seen such things in Writer? Have you got an idea how to fix the reporter's problems? IMHO he deserves a good and very polite answer, but the most important thing is probably the question how to help him.

I can’t help the reporter myself, because I have never seen such pseudo-random text re-formatting in Writer (I have seen it in MS Word, of course; it is called auto-format ;-), but maybe you got an idea?

Best regards,

        Roman
