Excel has that famous "1900 is a leap year" bug so claims 1900-02-29 would exist, the one day offset in Calc compensates for that, with the result that dates between 1900-01-01 and 1900-02-28 are one day off when imported from Excel, but all dates starting at 1900-03-01 are correct.
