Still, you're in the middle of working on something, your mouse is just "right there" and you want to get at the object under it, which you're seeing. It's at your mouse-tip - and yet so far away. Do you really want to have to let it go, move to the side of the window, open the sidebar, and start going over all the objects in the slide, waiting for the right one to blink? It's a hassle.
