We discussed the topic in the design meeting.

Format > Autocorrection > While typing allows to temporarily switch off the AC.
This command is customizable and can be assigned to a shortcut and/or a toolbar
icon. Adding another switch over-complicates the workflow and clashes with the
existing options. Plus, we cannot blindly extend the style attributes as this
needs to be standardized (besides the question whether AC on the style makes
sense). So the verdict is WF.

However, Calc also has AC and changes the first letter, for example, always to
upper case. And Calc misses this "[ ] While typing" option. In this case it
makes sense to add some option to temporarily switch AC off, ideally similar to
Writer with "Apply and Edit" but not necessarily (apply and edit after cells
are filled sounds wrong). Different topic though, apparently handled in bug
156020.
