Hm, no idea off the top of my head if there's any cwd involved there. Another angle of attack could be to instead use "unopkg add" to install the extension, and see if its output gives more of a clue. (Maybe after removing remnants of previous attempts at installing the extension, see "unopkg list" and "unopkg remove").
