Cool, so if we apply file system compression to the .app bundle it will likely be around 1 GB on disk, which is only 200-300 MB more than todays .app bundle (that does not have compression enabled) As the downside of a larger .app bundle is that small, it seems like a no-brainer to adopt the standard way to ship localizations with macOS: in the .app bundle That will be much easier for users, only one thing to install and it will automatically use the language as specified in the System UI settings Using the scarce macOS developer resources to hack together an extension system or configuration directory seems to be wasteful. That would also not work automatically with the System UI language setting, and if you e.g., store it in the user directory it will not automatically show up for other users on the machine...
