Heya,
Just to let you know that currently I am maintaining the GB and ZA dictionaries, as everyone knows. I have also been working on the US for months. I believe I have a stable version of it, but I would rather not rush things. After a few extra refinements in my app, Proofing Tool GUI (PTG), two or three patterns for automatic conversion of GB to US for some words, I will move to the CA and AU. The procedure is simple: Depending on the language variant, I convert to -IZE or -ISE, and then I compare Kevin Atkinson's wordlists with my GB one and analyse word by word to see to which variant they belong. For specific US, CA and AU, I have a list of words that will allow removal of specific words from GB and a list to append to the region-specific ones. So far, I must have a list of around 3000 words to append to the US. But I must not be eager and take things calmly, so I want to try to wait until 1-JAN before I replace Kevin's versions with mine. In a few days, I will start working on the CA one, and after I am satisfied, I will start working on the AU one, which will be the easiest one, I believe. This procedure takes its time and must be carefully planned and done. Somewhere in 2026 or 2027 I am planning the 5th generation of English dictionaries (V 5.0), which will remove all PFX flags from the .AFF file and use only SFX flags. Using PFXs makes it very difficult to find words in my app and makes it impossible to merge flags of both types, thus the thousands of duplicate words in the final wordlists. This is the news, I just need to focus on the task. Kind regards from, >Marco A.G.Pinto ---------------------- |
