This is what the guy said exactly, so Im thinking you may well be right
about this:

Is there anything else that I should specifically check for damage is this
is the case?

I assume that a replacement docking station from Toshiba would be
prohibitively expensive too?
Has anyone on the list had experience of buy from ebay and qxl in the states
and sending it over to the UK?
Customs procedures, taxes, etc?
