David, we all lived through the time that Kim had her Libretto stolen and
then could not find an other as Mother Toshiba pulled the plug on the US.
I can't believe a kind sensitive thoughtful guy like you would rub salt in
her wounds;o)
Serial, you make several strong points. As Kim knows I use a Palm Pilot wt. a
"Pocket Mail" acoustic modem for my e-mail when away from the Lib. It is
universal for the US using their 800#, but I still travel with the Lib for
the reasons you mentioned as well as others.
Along with your cautions about dial-up #'s and modem phones, there is the
consideration of a set of adapters, voltage converters, phone line adapters,
etc.
I assume her 3110 power supply is 100/240 volt, so she will only need the
adapter for the different Euro receptacles.
You didn't mention Euro phone jacks. I noticed a Euro plug adapter in a
catalog that was three round pointed prongs. (kind of like the old 4 prong US
phone plugs) It allowed the RJ cord in the side and the Euro phone in the
top. Is this kind of thing a common problem, or is the RJ jacks common in
Europe?
We don't have those problems out here in the Wild Wild West. (Isolated from
California by a wide, wide river.) We just park our Ford pickup next to the
road and connect to the closest twisted barb wire. Pay no attention to the
large brown eyes of the doggies starring at you. When it is dry and the
conductivity of the fence posts is way down, you can connect around 28.8, but
when the rainy season hits, you may not get on for weeks.

PS: David I note you face has a new John Wayne square jaw look. Maybe I will
try ;o] in place of ;o), no it make me look more like my dog. He might
complain.
