Subject: LibrettoCD - Plan 28 Oct 2000

Okay,

Nice feedback from everyone with good points!

Given the size of the stack of documents I've got left to scan, and a very good
suggestion that a menu/navigation of the entire CD be built and included now,
rather than forcing everyone to get another copy of essentially the same thing
later with navigation added, I've stopped scanning documents at this point and
am busily building the menus to navigate the entire contents of this CD.

Once that's done, I'll add the latest drivers for the various Libretto models,
then begin burning.

The documents that are included will be the meat of what I have, so you don't
have to wait for the second CD, which will mostly include a variety of
off-topic items such as benchmark scores for various PC CPUs, modem background
information like how V.90 works, scans of competing products, and so forth.

Current plan is to create an ISO 9660 MODE-1 image with Joilet long file name
extensions to handle all the long file names. Given that most visitors to my
site, most PCs, most Macs, and most Linux OSs can read Joliet ISO 9660 CDs,
I'll happily ignore the 1% of 1% that aren't running a modern OS or don't have
access to one that can handle Joilet filename extensions.

Yes, evil Microsoft to a tiny degree, but at least it's an open specification
and there are much fewer users that can access a Unix/Linux long file name CD
anyways.

Let me know if there are any problems with the CD format.

d =)

Fun stuff included:
Rarely seen Japanese train station advertisements for the Libretto ff1100.
The 'lost' Libretto Mailing List Archives.
Rare M3 Model Libretto taken apart with pictures.
