Subject: My L110 is *issing me off!
My L110 has decided to start freezing up at odd times, limiting it's
usefulness to me...
I am running the initial OS install of Win98, with no significant changes to
OS.
What seems to be happening is the sysyem will just stop, and the mouse will
disappear. If I am on the network, all activity stops, and the display
remains on, but frozen.
A power-down is required, with a scandisk (since windows was not shut down
properly), that sometime itself will freeze (or take so long to move to the
next percent done that I power-cycle and restart, usually it will get into
the 80s or 90s, then it will sit on one percentage point and I will wait 10
minutes or so, and seeing no disk activity or motion in percent done, will
power cycle).
Up until about two weeks ago this machine ran fine, able to stay up for
hours at a time, does anyone have any ideas? It is possible I performed some
recent MS update, but there doesn't seem to be a direct correlation between
the two events, but I can not be 100% sure.
Has anyone seen problems like this before?
Any advice?
Should I simply attempt an update from MS update service, and if that fails
consider the OS to be questionable and re-install the OS?
The commonality among all teh failures, now that I think about it, may be
Outlook 2000 - I didn' t relize it until right now, but that is always
running in the forground when the error occurs...
Hmm,
Ken
