You need ~34MB for the storage area, and iirc it saves to the nearest (logical) cylinder boundary. If 1024 logical cylinders = 8.4G, 1 cylinder ~= 8MB. So five cylinders either side of 1023 implies 40MB free, cylinders 1018 - 1028 should be sufficient, though I reserved a little more, on the grounds that one day I might want this disk in a 100/110 - 1013 to 1033 iirc.
