Actually the two I have are both AC adaptible, and one has a battery attachment. The problem is, you carry this great little computer and the CD-ROM and AC plug weigh more and take up more space than the entire computer. You may as well buy a disc player if it's for music. I was of the impression that most other PCMCIA CD-ROM drives didn't need external power either. I do know the 24x PCMCIA drives we had at work to use with Porteges don't load the batteries on their laptops much either.
