Perhaps they got bored?  

Whatever the reason, it's pretty silly given that they had the market lead for
years before Sony came out with their Picturebook.

Even today Sony's latest Libretto-sized notebook isn't as small as their
SuperSlim series that used a 6.35mm HD years back.

Today, I would imagine that toshiba could make them even smaller and thinner by
going to even smaller form factors for the HD, and given the improvements in
various miniaturization of other components.
