George Derby in England was kind enough to send me his old New Media
Sound/SCSI II Multimedia Combo card that looks just like this. Were New
Media and Noteworthy the same company? This same card, or similar has been
referred to as a WavJammer. Then there was the ToastBuster.

I never got the card to record properly on my Lib. Recorded files always
sputtered, and the process seemed like it was taking a lot more resources
than it should on a P120 32MB system like my L70.

I had to dig up drivers on the net for it which were pretty tough to find,
as George didn't have them. I was never really sure if the drivers I got
were really the right ones, though eventually Windows did recognize the
card. But I made several attempts over the months to get it working, and
never succeeded. The frustrating thing was that when I removed the drivers,
the Yamaha drivers wouldn't work. It took a while to figure out that the
sound for the Yamaha had been disabled in BIOS.

George, if you're reading the list, I'll be glad to send the setup back to
you. When I pointed out I wasn't having any success, he just told me to
keep the card, and the fairly huge and awkward SCSI Y cable with a SCSI plug
and adapter on one end, a jack box at another, and a PC card plug that has a
bit of a problem holding on to the card.

If George still doesn't want it back, I'd be glad to pass it along to
someone who might want to experiment with it.

Matt
