Subject: EZ-BIOS revisited

I found a page on the WD website explaing how to remove EZ-BIOS from my 20GB HDD:

http://support.wdc.com/faqs/software/ezdrive.asp

It also indicates that running 'FDISK /MBR' will deal with eliminating EZ-BIOS if that process fails.

If its already backed up, I'd go the nuke-everything-and-start-again route just to be safe ...

I'm thinking I'll run Partition Magic and delete all my partitions, as none of the partitions on the drive now were present when I 1st installed EZ-BIOS.

Why use PM? Or do you have some partitions that Fdisk doesn't like? (I ask because I think earlier versions of PM didn't play well with EZ-Bios ... later versions were EZ-Bios aware and would even refuse to run if it detected EZ-Bios on the drive but not in memory) ...

Then do the uninstallation of EZ-BIOS or run FDISK /MBR is that fails. And then just start over setting up partitions on the drive from scratch.

Good plan ...

Anyone concur, see problems, or have any suggestions?

All I can suggest (and you're probably already doing this anyway) is to set it up just as EZ-Bios wants (let it create all those FAT partitions, etc.), then when you go through and repartition with a (late) version of PM or with FDISK, whatever you do, don't touch the first partition ... I know Linux FDISK tends to screw up if it tries to create the first partition on an EZ-Bios-loaded drive (or at least the version with RH6 did) ... I dunno about other tools but I like to be somewhat safe about these things :-)

Good luck!
