Subject: RE: [LIB] Replacement cells for L1x0 battery

From: Trench Shoring <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

One of the problems that I have run into is the Li-On battery itself. Not
many people want to sell these things to ordinary people due to the
possibility of exploding and catching fire if improperly recharged.

Right... I've seen posts on that on the list in the past.

One of the rumours I uncovered is Li-On batteries have a two year life.
From the time they leave the manufacturer 24 months. Stored on a shelf, or
used everyday in my laptop, TWO YEARS. Watch those Ebay "specials"

Hmmm... the 50CT I bought new in Jan of 1998 is still using its original battery, and seems to be holding its charge to power the system pretty much as well as it ever has. I really don't run my libs on their batteries as much as most people do with thier various notebooks though. And all my Libs are always plugged in to power.

Who build battery packs?
Remote control cars enthusiasts rebuild their battery packs.
GWS park flyers - electric power lightweight planes
Hand held Ham radio guys.
Camera buffs

And a few die har Librettoratti.

Cool links

This guy took Li-On batteries from a Cell phone and crafted his own pack.

Hmmm.... John M. made some forays into installing larger cells at one point... ended up having to tear off some of the battery case to fit the new cells.
