I have 2 headphone adapters - one that I got with the Lyra and one that I got with my 50M. They are nearly identical (I don't think they are of the same manufacture - the mouldings on the rubber are slightly different) 7/8 of an inch long, not including the actual Male plug.
That makes those 5/8" shorter than what I've got... and probably the length of the 50CT adapter I lost at some point.
Is the adapter you're using a solid 2 inches - or does it have a flexible cable? I've never seen the radio shack ones...
It's one solid piece, plug the same as yours, but with a real long body for some reason.
I'm not concerned so much about the 1/8th inch jack as the fact that one of my 110cts has a line out jack that only works for left channel. I was thinking that if people do replacements to 1/8th inch ones that I could do that and stop worrying about how to fix the existing one.
I've never really looked at the jack that's mounted on the Libbys' case. But if you're thinking of fixing your problem, it may just be a matter of bending the contacts of your existing jack, cleaning them or resoldering the connections if solder is involved. Still, if that doesn't work, you'd have to order a replacement jack. Unless we hear from someone to the contrary, apparently there's no 1/8" jack that's gong to fit in there.
On my idea about finding cable with a 3/8" (I guess they call them 2.5mm) right-angle plug on a cord, I just found this:
