win98 (32MB RAM) faster than win2k (64MB RAM) faster than XP (128MB RAM). Basically, as noted earlier, 98 is fine, 2k can be a touch slower or the same depending on the number of applications open, and XP is just too slow. Here, you'll want 64MB of RAM in the L100 before you start. Because the L100 is running only 166Mhz, it's barely at the limit of win2K's lower end requirements. You will have to test and see if it's acceptable for you. Reinstalling w2k new is the best option - this will leave you with the fastest system possible. You can learn about the various 2k speed tweaks by searching on them (eg. turning off unneeded background services, etc.) to help speed the L100 up. Realistically, stability is not an issue with 98 or 2k -- I've been running 98SE on my L110 for years, and can't even use all of my fingers on one hand to count the times it has crashed or hung on me. try 2k first, then install 98 if it isn't fast enough. ===== adorable toshiba libretto The latest news and information for the Toshiba Libretto owner. http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
