Hi all,

I had exactly the same problem. The card would drive a mouse without a problem but no wau to make it work with the mouse AND the GPS receiver...
Too bad

Matt, I also have the USB 2 card and have no trouble with the small
optical mouse plugged into it and no external supply. I have also used
it with the flash drive without a problem. I have not tried any hard
drives with it.

From what I gather, those cards will work without external power BUT
will
only work in low power mode (so they'll run cardreaders, flashdrives,
webcams, digicams, mice/keyboards, etc.). However, they won't power an
(unpowered) external hard drive, battery charger or the like, presumably

because the PCMCIA port can't be relied on to supply the current (500mA
x 2
plus whatever the card itself draws). This has certainly been the case
with
the 2 USB2.0 and 2 Firewire cards I've tried (that is, the firewire
works
in 'unpowered' mode as well but not high power when it needs an extra
12v
supply).

Of course, you could always do the trick I did and tap 5v off the
motherboard (remember, my L100 has an extra PS/2 port added to the side
;-P ) ... see www.raybot.net for instructions :-)

Cheers!
