IMHO, Typically good Laptop brands are IBM, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony. IBMs are typically no-frill, solid units. Toshiba are typically reliable and good value. Panasonic Toughbooks range from rugged to indestructible. Sony are expensive and very flashy units. Dell used to be a good choice, but their quality has dropped somewhat in recent years. Still, they have decent support and good prices. Haven't looked too much at Fujitsu recently - I suspect they are hard to find in Canada, so I can't comment on them. Above and beyond brand names, anything based on the Pentium-M chip (Like the "Centrino" platform stuff) is a good way to go. You usually get a much more portable and battery friendly machine than trying to go with a P4 or Athlon. Tory
