next month I am going to upgrade the memory in my 110CT. I am going to upgrade to 256MB. I am doing 256 because I am unable to find the right chips to go to 512. Wish me luck--!!. the only problem I forsee is I'll fry a system chip with the soldering. Those are really hard to find!!
Hey John.... Having more memory in the 110 will be nice, no doubt. But it seems I recall reading and hearing serveral sources in the past that have said that there's an upper limit on just how much memory will in fact speed a system/OS up significantly. What parameters are involved there I don't know. It may very well be that you wouldn't really see much difference in performance between having 256MB or 512MB of RAM in the little Libby. But as you've probably deduced at this point, I'm not as aware of the specifics of system operations as those of you who actually work on these little demons on a day to day basis.
it'll make it run like it has a p4 in it!! I'm considering making it a memory based system and getting rid of the hard drive it'll make it so fast!! and power usage will drop enormously to where it'll take half the power it does with a hard drive!! I'm getting 4-8 hours battery life now should get at least 10 if not 16.
But good luck! Though it's been discussed a lot, I don't think anyone has really tackled an attempt at actually stuffing more RAM into a Lib.
thanks
john
