The machine: Libretto 110ct, 64RAM, 4.2G HD, Port replicator enhanced (I have a normal (smaller) too), PCMCIA USB, WiFi, ETH, 56K, BIOS updated to 8.10, runnin Win98SE.
When I buy it at 3 weeks ago, the hibernation and standby does not work. The hibernation because the last owner delete hibernatikon partition (I create again about 80mb... after reboot only 2Mb was free... so.. I get it back let 78Mb for hibernation partition in end of disk).
the stand by becaus the lid off of LCD (the little button/sensor ate left that when you close de laptop give it up to stand by mode) was withou a rubbber (or plastic I dont know)... and I put a small piece of rubber in this place.) Thats ok now..
The Problem: sometimes doesnt turn off, sometimes doesnt hang uo, sometimes dont wake up, e sometimes works fine (both, standby and hibernation)
Description of problem:
Hibernation: Somethimes everthing does ok, but.. somethimes.. I press power button (I configure press power button of libretto in windows to gives a Hibernation (copy everything to disck with the animation un LCD) and close the lid (LCD) gives stand by (power on LED turn orange).. cont.. I press power button the messge in windows going to hibernation (win98 calls this of standby ??) the BIOS animation going on (the notebook, arrow pointing to disc, and HD)... animation finish.. the LCD turns off.. but.. POWER ON LED DOES NOT.. : - P (thats problema case number 1) .Everything turned off but not the Power on led.. I wait 10... 20 minutus.. and nothing. So.. I press and hold power on button and its turn off too.. But somethimes fewers seconds later the libreto turns on and begins wake up from hibernation. (thats problem case number 2) If I dont let (turn off again) somethimes later when I turn it on thats ok.. somethimes not..\
Somethimes not its simples.. the Libretto turns on.. but not is seing in LCD... the power on LED is on, the HD LED turn on in load.. but LCD is totaly black and turned off.. (thats problem 3 wake up from hibernantion). Somethimes the LCD turns on.. the animation of resume back aperars.. whent.. the animantion finished windows not apears.. and in few secondls reboots showing the windows logo : - P
Stand By mode: I close the LID panel (LCD), the system beeps.. the LCD turn off, the power on LED in green turns orange and "twinkle".. but when I open the lid panel, somethimes the LCD turhs on, a curson blinking in right top (black background like DOS) and a fewer seconds later the windows aperas and everything are ok.. elsif, the LCD turns on the cursor blinking in black background apears, and a message error thats not possible resume from standby mode (like before when thers no hibernation partition, but.. stand by dont use it.. right ? and yes theres a 76Mb hibernation partition in end of disk) then reboots.. (thats problem are more commom if there are many programs open.. if thers no one (only windows) mostly times everything goes ok.
The Question: that problems are from BIOS bugs, Win98 Bugs, Any error in configuration, HD failure ? or anything else ? Anyone had this problems in past (or present now ?)
Thas right the Power ON LED does not turn off when the libreto enters in Hibernation mode ? If stand by mode does not use the partition... why I get erros somethime at resume from that mode ?\
I can blame win98 for all of these problemas ?\
The RESET located at right of the Libretto... thats reset what ?
