Windows 2000 would be a more stable choice for you. Either that or you'll
have to completely reinstall W98 to make it stable again. (I simply restore my
system from my Ghost 2003 backups that I made after I had installed W98 +
drivers + programs + settings -- this is the fastest and best way, IMO.)

Windows 98 can be very stable as well - I can run a 98 system for years
before having to reinstall from my backups.

As for light & fast, for email, I still use Mozilla because it has a nice
email program and I like it more than Opera (more compatible). Although it
takes a little longer to load, it's worth the trouble for me. Otherwise, I'd
use Opera for a light weight browser.

For organizing, I'm using a Franklin Rex Pro PCMCIA PDA + Truesync software
-- it's the only PDA besides the Fossil Palm PDA watch which is small,
lightweight, and takes up the least weight vs. other PDAs. Of course, I like
the Rex better due to the 6-12 month battery life when it's not in heavy use;
the Fossil PDA runs out in a few days.

Still, if speed is an issue, this usually signifies that you'll need to
upgrade to a faster system - not much you can do to W98 + 98lite to make it go
much faster.

Here, www.conics.net can get you faster, smaller systems such as the Sony
U50/70 series, Fujitsu Loox T70 series, JVC Interlink XP series, etc. in a
small, lightweight mini-notebook.
