1) Keep in mind that even the L-series Librettos are going to be slow - they
use the Crusoe CPU, so divide the CPU speed by 1/2 to get the approximate
Pentium speeds. (eg. 600Mhz Crusoe = about 300Mhz Pentium; which isn't much
faster than a L110 at 233Mhz)

2) For the $300-500 I'd spend on the L-series, I'd rather buy a $499 15" laptop
on sale almost anywhere (see newspaper & fatwallet.com/forums/ -> hot deals).
Doesn't make much sense to spend $500ish on an obsolete laptop that runs a
Crusoe CPU.

Here, I'd even buy a Sony SRX series 10" LCD notebook instead - at least
these run a real Pentium III at 600-900Mhz.

Alos, the TomTom's GPS standalone navi units have been selling as low as
$499, and they're a great all-in-one touch-screen GPS/navi unit to use instead
of a notebook.

3) My picks would be Fujitsu P5000 series/P7000 series notebook, Sony TR3A
through TR5A series notebooks, JVC Interlink XP series, SOny U50/U70 series,
etc. -- pretty much anything faster than the Librettos.

4) Mappoint + AGPS for Mappoint plug in works just fine on my L110 at 233Mhz
with 64MB RAM on a 20GB HD. You can easily run a GPS system that'll display
live location updates to 1-2 second update period on these systems.

5) Keep in mind that the older laptops don't have as daylight-readable LCDs as
the newer notebooks. Thus, use in a car will be limited w/o further application
of LCD anti-glare/contrast enhancement films as noted earlier (see Mailing List
Archives).

6) Anyways, if you're getting the L-series, do buy the fastest model you can
get.

7) HD is standard 2.5" 9.5mm - no worries about that voltage thingy. Just buy
anything up to 120GB and drop it in.

8) Yep, 120GB Fujitsu HDs are out.
