WOW! What a site. But I can't seem to find the link for the manual you
mention. Is it the CD for sale?

Search down the page there for: "Libretto Maintenance Manual for L50/70/100 models." Here's the link:

http://www.silverace.com/libretto/libmm.zip

David has zipped up both the 50/70 manual and the 100/110 manual together.

They're also available from Brett's Conics website individually:

ftp://93.conics.net/upload/l5070mm.zip

ftp://93.conics.net/upload/l100mm.zip

The procedure for removing the lid is in there. The only secrets are to use a small pin to lift the 2 screw covers. And then to release the mask latches, pull the mask from the left edge, fingertips under the inside edge of the mask above LCD pulling upwards and back towards the outside edge with thumbs under the outer edge. I won't speculate on the odds for reseating the cable fixing your problem though... But it's an interesting experience if nothng more. ;-P

Could be - sometimes the internal connector starts to get loose. You may
have
to reseat it. Otherwise, the flexible connectors used usually don't fail
first
- Bulbs and inverter would fail usually before then.
