I'd use the x86 ... I've not used Gentoo but under RedHat I've had
headaches installing on one computer then moving to another, only to find
out that the kernel is wrong and having to do fancy things to get the right
kernel installed ... of course you can always try the others later (once
you have the system working - that way if you stuff up at least you still
have a working kernel in your boot menu).
Definately don't choose the P3, P4 or Athlon XP kernels - they'll try to do
things that the P-MMX won't understand. I'd say the same about the i686
(Pentium Pro and above) except I think at some point in the dim dark past I
managed to get an I686 kernel running on a Pentium MMX by accident (I
installed a box on a Pentium Pro then moved it to a Pentium MMX) ... but it
could also be my shoddy memory talking ...

Has anyone on the list tried installing gentoo linux onto a 100CT/110CT?
I am about to do this, and am just wondering where the Libretto's
'Mobile Pentium MMX' comes when the available kernels for bootstrapping
include:
stage3-athlon-xp-2005.0.tar.bz2
stage3-i686-2005.0.tar.bz2
stage3-pentium3-2005.0.tar.bz2
stage3-pentium4-2005.0.tar.bz2
stage3-x86-2005.0.tar.bz2
I am guessing it is equivalent to one of the pentiums, most likely
a pentium 3, but if not then I support x86 is the closest. Anyone
know?
Also, in case anyone out there has tried gentoo, what CPUFLAGS are
you using?
