Another KT7-RAID MB for about that price.
Or, search the yellow pages for a local used computer dealer (eg.
ComputerTimes
in Los Angeles is a free publication that has listings, too), and you can
easily pickup entire used PCs for <$50.
I kind of thought the server was stuck. Wrote Dan the other day, and from
the number of duplicate posts coming all at once today, I see he's fixed the
problem.
Well... the MB is working again. After an Abit support person telling me
the board was dead and to get a new one, I sat here punching the power
button for 10-15 minutes. 3 seconds on, push power again instantly right
when it powered down, on and on, and lo and behold, it finally powered up
and stayed on.
Many of these KT7-RAID boards from Abit had problems with bad caps, but only
two out of many that can exhibit the problem are swollen. And those 2 have
been swollen for years without any others showing signs of going that way.
The BIOS is just finicky when adding/removing/changing the drive setup, and
can require several attempts of plugging in the power to them one at a time
to get BIOS to see them all. So it took several hours to jump start BIOS
into seeing them all.
ComputerTimes eh David? Where can you pick up a copy? I don't see any
mention of it after a quick search of the net.
Matt
