Basically, announced around the same time as the original Libretto 20-30 series, but intended for the business/field work person. Think - Tablet PC way way before it's time. They sold a bit in Japan, you can still find units and partial units on the auctions in Yahoo Japan Auctions, etc. and they're workable as 'interesting historical PCs'. Units about the same size but modern and running XP today: OQO, Fujitsu P1500 series, Sony U-series, etc. mini touch screen notebooks. Relevent info: http://www.toshiba.co.jp/tech/review/1997/high97/infomedia/im2/index.htm 1997: "Libretto/Cuaderia Portable Personal Computers The Libretto series of mini-notebook personal computers makes the most of high technology such as a high-accumulation, application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and an ultra-thin 2.5 inch hard disk drive. The design is super-small, at about one-third the size of a sheet of A4 paper, and light-weight, weighing as a little as 840g. These pocket-sized computers employ some of today's most advanced technologies, such as a 6.1 inch TFT-LCD and a lithium ion battery. Windows95 is installed as the operating system. The result is personal computers that create new possibilities in mobile computing and provide users with an office environment anywhere, any time. Also available is the Cuaderia series, A5-sized personal computers that use the same architecture as Librettos. Information can be input to Cuaderias using a finger or a pen." http://sheraj.tripod.com/Small_books/toshiba_cuaderia_20.htm "The Cuaderia is essentially a Libretto transformed into a pen-based computer. The Cuaderia weighs 1.9lbs, and boasts the same brilliant 6.1" active-matrix screen, the same standard battery and the same 810MB hard disk as the Libretto. With 16MB RAM shipping as standard, the computer runs Windows 95 at a pace brisk enough for the vast majority of applications. Battery life is 2-3 hours, and the standard battery which ships with the computer can be hot-swapped with another. The optional large Lithium-ion battery gives double the life of the standard battery and thus provides up to 9 hours of operation when used with the standard. The computer is Plug and Play compatible, comes with one Type II slot built-in and provides an excellent solution to users who want the power of Windows 95 via an alternative means of user-input (i.e. pen). For those times when keyboard-input is preferable, the integrated PS/2 port means that a full-size touch-typable keyboard (or mouse) can be attached directly to the Cuaderia. Finally, there is a numeric keypad located on the right side of the unit, along with a small number of other commonly-used keys, making data input with an application like Excel very easy." http://www.pc178.com/notebook/toshiba/cuaderia100.htm http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r31831269 adorable toshiba libretto The latest news and information for the Toshiba Libretto owner. http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ ____________________________________________________________________________________ Need a quick answer?
