Well, that is the point of having branches in the first place!
The real problem is that we have allowed ourselves to be sucked into continuing to support branch-1-5, which means that effort we should be spending on fixing the last few bugs in branch-2-0 is wasted in backporting fixes to an essentially deprecated tree.
I agree wholeheartedly. A working 2.0 must get out the door ASAP so that 1.5.X doesn't need to be supported anymore. 2.0 does not need to be perfect (if "perfect" is expected, there will never be a release), but it should behave as documented.
