I used mac ports to install. I am going to install directly from

It probably means there is a bug in its kernel - the chunks are not
written to your filesystem correctly and hence files are corrupted.
Either that or you have some other problems (like hardware).
It's zfs pool; could that be the root of problem?
Yes, it seems Apple's implementation of zfs still has some bugs
regarding shared writable mmaps.
