I have run into a rather strange problem that appears to be related to libusbx-13 on a Fedora 17 x64 box.
My build commands: ./configure --libdir=/lib64 --prefix=/usr make make install At this point all seems well. The libraries are where they are supposed to be, headers & package config files all appear to be updated. Now reboot the machine. Booting appears normal until just before the login screen. The the black screen of death... crash.... go whine at system admin etc. To fix this. At the black screen ctrl-alt F2 to get the console, login as root. yum reinstall libusb* reboot and all is well again. I think this has something to do with some of the Gnome 3 login screen using the libusb compat functions. But I am not sure.
