Thank you very much for your reply. This seems to be exactly what I was looking for. I can't believe I missed it on the roadmap.
The disrupted file transfer is a windows only thing and to be honost I have not tried it with libusbx, only libusb-1.0.8 so things might behave differently today. I'll try it with libusbx and see if it solves the issues. Regarding the hotplug branch, I'll try it out next week and report back on this list or in the issue tracker with my experiences.
