Agreed that a vir* namespace is safer.

One further:

typedef struct nl_handle virNLHandle;

static virNLHandle *
virNLHandleAlloc(void) ...

so that the rest of the code is indeed isolated into virNL wrappers with
no additional #ifdefs.
