I am writing this just to let you know that we are finalizing with Ariya
a KWord's WPD import filter that reuses completely the libwriterperfect
code. I think that this work can be of benefit for all, the KWord's WPD
import, SXW import, as well as for wpd2sxw.

I would like to thank William for merging some two years ago the
writerfilter and wpd2sxw code into an intelligently designed
writerperfect. It was enough to write a simple KWordHandler class and
fix some issues concerning default styles (that OOo supplies
automatically, but not necessarily third party converters) and a nice
filter is done. After fixing some issues with rendering of complex
tables and with the fact that negative paragraph margins mean for kword
that part of the text is out of the frame and though invisible, the
filter will be of a good quality.

BTW: I am planning to fix the negative margins stuff for 0.8.5 -- assure
that the page margin of a page span is the minimum page margin inside
the span, so that the paragraph margins will always be positives. It
will also avoid the ugly line in some documents imported to OOo.

Cheers

Fridrich
