....time passes until I get back to the issue tonight :)
I think I've incorporated all of the suggestions:
only adds instance variable overhead for http/https
cleans up the object's entry in ivar hash on DESTROY
ivar hash only grows when non-default values are used
Additionally, tonight's version gets clone() working as well, fixes a warning in sip.pm, adds brief documentation and a sprinkling of tests to cover the addition.
All tests pass on my end. Worth applying?
