Now I got it: configure did take the wrong lib-dir! It should have been 
/opt/kde2/lib. 
export KDEDIR=/opt/kde2 did the trick, it seems LICQ's aclocal.m4 only honors 
the old KDEDIR, not the new KDEDIRS variable.
So aclocal.m4 should be extended to make use of KDEDIRS. I don't know enough 
m4 to do that right now. :-)

But after compiling with KDE-support, LICQ now crashes:

That's all, up to there. After that, the LICQ backend runs happily and logs 
in, and everything... But the KDE plugin is dead.
