I haven't had a chance to look at this yet and probably won't for a couple of 
days, but here's what I think would be ideal behaviour.  Don't make the 
changed password call unless the password entered is different from the saved 
password.  Same thing with the security options.  This does not address the 
failed event problem though.  Informing the user somehow is essential, using 
a message box will be fine.
