Exactly. It just can't work when the server has the alias in some encoding and now licq asserts it is in utf8. Ugly hack comes to my mind: You could apply the patch I posted some time ago, that disables updating the alias from server (when logging on). (*) Then, you would save all contacts using some kind of script (either licq_fifo, or DCOP would do the trick). (*) Ideally, this could be an option. Maybe it will work when you disable server-side contact list before logging on, then enable it and upload all the aliases. Jon? Bye for now.
