OTP = one-time pad OTR = Off-the-Record Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-the-record_messaging : Off-the-record messaging is a technology which provides encryption and authentication for instant messenger conversations by using a public/private key system. OTR is currently available in a couple of clients (Gaim, Adium) on several platforms (Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows). OTR uses a signed Diffie-Hellman exchange to create short-lived session keys such that the compromise of any long-lived cryptographic keys (such as the DSA signing key) cannot compromise previous conversations encrypted under previous short-lived session keys (perfect forward secrecy). Even in the case a key might be stolen, there will be no way to prove that a certain OTR key has been used by a certain person in a conversation (deniability).
