Is it possible that you mixed up 2 versions of licq on your machine?
I just grepped the complete source (including the main plugins) and there is 
no such code in licq that still uses "*.uin" except for the upgrade part of 
licq.

For example look at /usr/bin and /usr/local/bin if there are several versions 
installed...
