I looked before I attached it, saving bandwidth ;-)
it turns out the actual file looked for by the configure script is
Intrinsic.h, which is in libxt-dev package, rather than libx11-dev...
The error message put me on the wrong track.
After installing libxt-dev, the next error I get is qt headers, so I'm
progressing :-)
I got a great suggestion (which works) from Pollywog to run "apt-get
build-dep licq". This works like a charm on Kubuntu Edgy.
I'm just passing along the tip!
