I think I discovered that my issue is related to the fact that the code is part of a CometActor/CometListener, and it sounds like S isn't fully functional from this perspective... My clue was the inStatefulScope_? method documentation.
I do think I managed to work around my specific issue, but I don't fully understand this, and I'm not sure if this change in behavior was intentional.
