Ok, printable and visible are somewhat similar in the connotations. I
would _not_ ignore point and 1D stencils: they are _explicitly_ for the
situation where you want a defined stencil but no ink.
\first-defined or \first-set or \first-definite or \first-valid or
\first-present or \first-full?
Personally, I like \first-printable still better than \first-visible when
considering the case of \null/point-stencil.
But it's very much bike-shedding. I don't have a _clear_ other favorite.
At least I am happier than with \or.
