** [issues:#4927] Performance of 2.17.6 convert-ly rule**
**Status:** Accepted

Judging from the run-off on the terminal, the convert-ly rule for 2.17.6 takes
an inordinarily large amount of time. Someone should figure out whether a
particular conversion is responsible for it and see whether it can be written
better (some regexps like .*.* are inherently expensive).
The file where this rule is found is `python/convertrules.py`
