installed Lilypond identifies itself as 2.7.27? :)
My Mac version reports "2.7.26-1 (Build from 30-12-2005 19:17"
even though the version I thought I was downloading today was
2.7.26-2. Regardless, the older 2.7.26-? is trashed.

2) The PDF file for the song went up from 90 KB to 2690 KB - is that
to be expected?
The pdf for a small choral piece went from ~350 KB to ~300 KB for me.
Both built with 2.7.26
