Yes, the closing angled bracket is normally used to mark the original text
when writing a reply. Thunderbird, for example, shows one or more colored lines instead of these brackets, so if you open a score with double << and close it
in a line of its own, like this
>>
thunderbird will show a blue and a red line instead of the brackets :-(
